I am close to being able to start finish sanding my latest guitar. It has cocobolo back and top a wonderboard lutz top both top and back bought from the classified section. The rosette and heel cap are amboyna burl. Bindings and fret board are ebony. I used a bit of african black wood for the end wedge as I did not have a scrap of ebony.

I like it. Nice armrest too. I'm about to start construction on a Gore medium SS Falcate. Should be fun, if I can get through the math. Your previous post on your first falcate SS is partly responsible for me wanting to give it a go.

John, I like it a lot. I really want to build another falcate and this time take my time and follow all of Trevor's steps. The first one I built was for a challenge and I put it together in a hurry.

Here is a falcate braced OM style guitar I finished up recently!! great sound and tone, We may have to lobby Lance to give us our own falcate braced forum here as more people read the Gore and Gillet books!!! I have built 6 of them so far including a 12 string.

John , luv the swirl pattern as it meets the center of the rear heel block. Are you gonna pop the grain ? I/ve used linseed oil and shellac an FP to do it.Not neccessarily in that order . Yes I/d like to see a falcate section too .Working on my 3rd/ 4th

Thank you guys for the supportive comments. This is a commissioned guitar. I had planned to use a more traditional X-brace, but I so love the sound of my first falcate, I decided with the customers input to make it a falcate as well. Cal, if you can get the equations you need into excel (for me calculating the plate thickness) you can gloss through a lot of the derivations. As I followed Trevor's design in my first falcate the design decisions were already accounted for.

There are quite a few of use using falcate bracing, it would be nice to have a sub-forum. I may have been lucky on the first, but the sound and performance of my first falcate is so much better than any of my other guitars that it is almost like cheating for an inexperienced builder like myself to be able to achieve it.

Wes, your OM looks great, I have yet to do string by string nut compensation, only taking a baby step by taking a bit off the fret board from the zero slot.

Ernie, I plan to use zpoxy to pop the grain although I am considering using the west system epoxy as it does not have the amber tint. The cocobolo darkens with finish, maybe the water clear west system will pop the grain better.

Great Looking guitar.. I have The G&G books so I guess I should try one of these at some point, wonder how they would work redesigned as a 20.875" scale tenor

Oh and your comment "you can gloss through a lot of the derivations" is exactly why I failed Calculus 101 in 1987 LOL

Kerry, I know a lot of guys are doing falcate braced Ukes a Tenor should be OK as well. I have to admit I did not gloss through the equations. I am in the lucky position of having recently tutored both of my kids up through Calculus. As they were in high school I was able to relearn it a year at a time. They if course thought I knew it all along. But it is possible to trust that the math is OK and use the derived equations.

It is always fun when I put the zpoxy on to fill the pores. I get to see all of the color and grain pop. I still need to make and install a logo, but I will be spraying this weekend.
